Hi, I’m Reasha. And I love food.
I once muled a friend’s cat to Budapest in the middle of January for the chance to see a new city. A few years ago I ended up in Barcelona, Spain after the toss of a coin. Then there was the time I traveled to Ensenada, Mexico in search of La Guerrerense, the famed seafood tostada cart, and after searching for days, the only way I found it was by stumbling across a journal entry at the AirBNB I was staying at. This is how most of my adventures begin: with a whim or sudden obsession. With something I have to taste. With something I have to see. With something I have to do. I love food, I love travel and I love spontaneity.
The Restaurant Jar began with a jar in my kitchen into which I put tiny pieces of paper with the names of all the places I wanted to try in Los Angeles. Friends would come over to go to dinner, we would pick three from the jar, eliminate two and go to the third. It was a great way to try new places. After many years of honing my taste buds and going on adventures in the city, friends and coworkers started asking me for my advice on where to go to dinner, or where to get drinks, or where the best dancing was, or if they were headed to a new country, what they should do there. I realized I had compiled quite a list from all my journeys and maybe it was time to put it all down somewhere that wasn’t the notes section of my iPhone. So The Restaurant Jar is for you, but also for me, so I can remember it all.
Consider this your guide to all things wonderful wherever I have been… and there’s so much more to come. Bon appétit!
